WHAT IS A WAQF & WHY IS IT THE MOST REWARDING INVESTMENT?
The concept of Waqf was instituted by the Prophet ﷺ and has the potential to create immeasurable benefits and rewards.
A Waqf is an Islamic trust fund for the Muslim community. Its property and proceeds are to be used for a good cause. They cannot be utilized for anyone’s personal benefit.
To establish a Waqf is one of the best acts of worship highly recommended in Islam!
Umar Ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) got a big plot of land in Khaybar. Because of its good quality and excellence, he considered it the most valuable of his possessions!
The companions used to compete in doing good deeds.
Allah then revealed the verse:
لَن تَنَالُوا۟ ٱلْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٌۭ
“You will not attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love. And whatever you spend - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.”
[Quran 3:92]
Umar (RA) went to the Prophet ﷺ to give Sadaqah, seeking to attain this righteousness that Allah mentioned in the verse.
The Prophet ﷺ did not tell him to sell the land and give its value in charity.
Instead, the Prophet ﷺ advised him of the best type of charity, and that was to make the land a Waqf – an endowment – so its proceeds could be used for charitable purposes.
This way of giving Sadaqah would benefit the Ummah not as a one-off benefit but as a continual benefit for all time to come.
And Umar (RA), would be reaping its Ajr all the way until he would stand in front of Allah!

OUR STORY: FROM BOMB THREATS TO ESTABLISHING A WAQF
We had recently purchased the property that we were going to transform into the most epic Masjid, Dawah, and community center for Muslims in Norway!
I knew that when the news of the purchase would break out, the enemies of Islam would react with anger and hatred. However, I could never in my wildest dreams have imagined how intense, forceful, and impactful their reaction would be…
It felt like the whole world was collapsing in front of me. All my sacrifices(!), my life struggle(!), my dream(!), my whole world(!), was about to crash down right in front of my eyes – And there was nothing I could do!
I felt so helpless, in despair…
But giving up was NEVER an option!
Let me take you back to where it all started so you can see how I got into this mess…
THIS IS HOW IT STARTED…
The year was 2021… For two years, we had been raising funds online to establish the first-of-its-kind mega Masjid, Dawah, and community center in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
25 of the most famous Shuyookh and Muslim speakers had endorsed the project!
Muslims of all backgrounds supported the Masjid project, and donations were flowing in – Alhamdulillah!
We had managed to secure a huge, perfectly fit property and paid half of the money up-front. Taking riba-based loans was never an option, so we aimed to raise the remaining half in a year…
We wanted to keep a low profile in order to avoid attention from Islamophobic politicians that could affect the Masjid plans. In this early phase, the worst thing that could happen was if racist politicians closed the Masjid before it even opened!
THEY CAUGHT US!
Lo and behold – The media found out about our new Masjid property!
On March 1st, 2021, the first article was published! Multiple politicians went out in the media and started shouting Islamophobic rhetoric:

It just went on and on for days, weeks, and months!
It’s difficult for me to express how I felt. It was like someone holding a knife at your throat, and you’re trying to figure out how to survive this miserable state you’ve fallen into…
It was not their verbal attacks that were the worst part. It was the thought of never seeing my dream come true! For so many years, I had been struggling and sacrificing to establish this Masjid so I could see my kids grow up in a healthy Islamic environment.
THEY BURNT THE QURAN!
The attacks went so far that anti-Muslim racists started burning the Quran outside of our Masjid and putting up banners calling our Masjid a “Jihad Center” that must be removed!!!

THEY WENT TO THE PARLIAMENT TO MAKE A NEW LAW
On top of all of this, the right-wing anti-Muslim political party in Norway suggested to the government that new laws be made in order to close our Masjid and stop Muslims from raising funds abroad to build Mosques.
Alhamdulillah, the law did not pass, and despite all their attempts to stop the establishment of our Masjid, they could not do it! Allahu Akbar!
In fact, we managed to:
- Finish paying off the remaining installments for the purchase of the property!

Finish the first stage of refurbishment to start Masjid activities!

Establish the 5 daily prayers in congregation for the local community!

Establish classes, lectures, reminders, and events for the Muslims to learn about Islam!
Alhamdulillah, our Masjid is open and alive!

And we’re even raising funds for its further expansion, which we plan to do soon, in sha Allah!

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِـُٔوا۟ نُورَ ٱللهِ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى ٱللهُ إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
“They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.”
[Quran 9:32]
THEY THREATENED TO KILL ME AND BOMB OUR MASJID
Seeing that the government did not stop us made the anti-Muslim extremists really angry! It went so far that they even threatened to kill me and bomb our Masjid! Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oon!

That really made me think…
What would happen if they actually killed me?
I have received multiple death threats over the years. In the past, it didn’t bother me much. But today, I have a family and kids that depend on me, and I am in charge of one of the most prominent Islamic organizations in my country.
Allah has given me the huge responsibility of establishing this Masjid and in sha Allah, multiple Islamic institutions to come. How would Islam Net continue building Mosques and Islamic centers if the racist extremists killed me?
What would happen if they bombed our Masjid?
SHOTS FIRED IN THE MASJID!
In 2019, a right-wing terrorist named Philip Manshaus actually tried to commit a massacre at a Masjid in Norway. He was such a loser, by the way. He came with guns and armor and started shooting, but a Pakistani grandpa manhandled and beat him up – Allahu Akbar!

WHAT IF THEY SUCCEEDED?
What would happen if the right-wing politicians actually succeeded and made it illegal for Masjids to get funding from abroad?
These thoughts kept bugging me… But Alhamdulillah, I found the answer!
There was one solution to all of this:
Independence!
We had to become financially independent. So whatever the enemies of Islam would do, they would not be able to stop our Masjid projects and the growth of Islam!
If they stopped our funding or even attacked us – which in sha Allah will not happen – we would have a proper system in place to continue to grow and expand the Dawah and the Islamic cause!
That’s where the Masjid Waqf came in!
THE PERFECT SOLUTION!
If we could establish a Waqf so big that it could finance the construction and running of multiple Mosques, Islamic schools, Dawah projects, and proper security measures to protect the assets of the Ummah, we would win!
The enemies of Islam would not be able to stop us! We would grow larger, gain influence in society, and our Dawah would become more powerful than ever!
Alhamdulillah, on October 26th, 2023, we secured the first property for the Masjid Waqf.
The plan is to increase the Masjid Waqf and make it the most significant and efficient tool to finance the growth of Islam in sha Allah.
That’s where you come in!
To realize our grand vision, I need you to become a loyal supporter!
You don’t want to stand on the sideline and let the enemies of Islam win, correct?
You want to be of those giving victory to Allah’s Deen, right?!

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ
“It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allāh dislike it.”
[Quran 9:33]
My vision is to establish Islam, beginning from Norway, then expanding to Scandinavia, and then to the rest of the world through digital means!
YOU CAN IMPACT THE COURSE OF HISTORY TODAY!
All of us live for a limited period of time. Most of us will leave this world without creating a legacy for ourselves. But some of us will impact the course of history forever!
We’ll be the ones who were part of the Islamic mission. We’ll be among those chosen by Allah to elevate His religion, and establish Islam!
We must have a vision, and we have to truly believe in that vision! If we honestly say that we believe in it, we must also act accordingly and be willing to sacrifice for the sake of Allah to achieve our goals and mission!
Say to yourself:
“I believe Islam is the truth, and I believe that Allah sent Muhammad ﷺ to establish this religion. And I want to be part of that vision, so I’m ready to strive for the vision of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with my efforts and my money, yearning for Paradise and the pleasure of my Rabb!”
I DON’T WANT TO SOUND ARROGANT, BUT…
THE PROMISE OF ALLAH!
ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱللهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَأَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا جَعَلَكُم مُّسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌۭ كَبِيرٌۭ
“Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and donate from what He has entrusted you with. So those of you who believe and donate will have a mighty reward.”
[Quran 57:7]
وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللهِ وَلِلهِ مِيرَٰثُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوِى مِنكُم مَّنْ أَنفَقَ مِن قَبْلِ ٱلْفَتْحِ وَقَـٰتَلَ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَقَـٰتَلُوا۟ ۚ وَكُلًّۭا وَعَدَ ٱللهُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَٱللهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌۭ
[Quran 57:10]
مَّن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يُقْرِضُ ٱللهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا فَيُضَـٰعِفَهُۥ لَهُۥ وَلَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌۭ كَرِيمٌۭ
“Who is it that will lend to Allah a good loan which Allah will multiply ˹many times over˺ for them, and they will have an honourable reward?”
[Quran 57:11]
يَوْمَ تَرَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ يَسْعَىٰ نُورُهُم بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَـٰنِهِم بُشْرَىٰكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ جَنَّـٰتٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
“On that Day you will see believing men and women with their light shining ahead of them and on their right. ˹They will be told,˺ ‘Today you have good news of Gardens, under which rivers flow, ˹for you˺ to stay in forever. This is ˹truly˺ the ultimate triumph.’”
[Quran 57:12]
يَوْمَ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتُ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱنظُرُونَا نَقْتَبِسْ مِن نُّورِكُمْ قِيلَ ٱرْجِعُوا۟ وَرَآءَكُمْ فَٱلْتَمِسُوا۟ نُورًۭا فَضُرِبَ بَيْنَهُم بِسُورٍۢ لَّهُۥ بَابٌۢ بَاطِنُهُۥ فِيهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةُ وَظَـٰهِرُهُۥ مِن قِبَلِهِ ٱلْعَذَابُ
“On that Day hypocrite men and women will beg the believers, “Wait for us so that we may have some of your light.” It will be said ˹mockingly˺, “Go back ˹to the world˺ and seek a light ˹there˺!” Then a ˹separating˺ wall with a gate will be erected between them. On the near side will be grace and on the far side will be torment.”
[Quran 57:13]
